In Solidarity with the Residents of Tarabin
15/01/26
On Thursday, January 15, 2026, we held a solidarity Zoom with the residents of Tarabin and the unrecognized villages in the Negev, against the backdrop of a violent collective punishment operation carried out by the police against the village.
We heard harrowing testimonies about the killing of Mohammad Hussein Al-Sana by the police, and about the ongoing reality of discrimination, violence, and abandonment faced by the Bedouin communities in the Negev. Eighty Zazim members participated in the meeting, heard firsthand accounts and learned about constructive solutions to the plight of the residents in the unrecognized villages.
The violence in Tarabin continues. . Police forces arrive in the village every evening, even after the operation officially ended. Residents report that officers throw stun grenades, tear gas, and flares, spreading chaos and fear.
The commitment and partnership of the Zazim community with the Bedouin residents of the Negev spans many years - from the successful struggle for an access road to the villages in 2016, through organizing transportation to the polls in the 2019 and 2022 elections, to opposing the demolition of 11 villages in 2024. We will not abandon them in the face of racist policies and police violence.
We will continue to update on developments in the struggle and on opportunities to act together to achieve justice and equality for the residents of the unrecognized villages and for the entire Bedouin society.
