Fighting Back Against the War in Gaza

19/08/25

In recent months, we at Zazim have devoted all our energy and resources to stopping the atrocities committed in our name in Gaza, to ending the war, and to bringing all the hostages and soldiers back home.

Thanks to our community of activists, we printed half a million leaflets reminding soldiers of their duty to refuse participation in war crimes, and Zazim activists distributed them to mailboxes across the country. We also printed and hung posters calling on people to refuse involvement in war crimes, and submitted petitions demanding investigations into these crimes.

We are fighting to put Israel’s starvation policy in Gaza on the public agenda and to break the silence of the media and politicians. We hung signs across the country demanding an end to starvation; in recent weeks we submitted a petition with 5,000 signatures calling on TV channels to cover what’s happening in Gaza, held a demonstration outside news studios, and presented a petition signed by journalists demanding that Israelis be shown the reality in Gaza.

For 22 months we've been fighting for the return of all hostages in a deal that would end the war. This week we led a petition calling on the Histadrut (Israel's umbrella organization of trade unions) to join a general strike for their release. Our activists attend weekly demonstrations against the war and for bringing back the hostages, where they hand out signs and stickers. We regularly take groups of Zazim members to West Bank villages to protect Palestinian farmers from settler attacks.

Zazim is a leading partner in the "It's Time" coalition, which recently held a major peace conference in Jerusalem calling for an end to the war and to advance peace discourse. This reflects our understanding that to stop the horror in Gaza, we must also present a vision for the day after the war.

We also support Zazim activists who initiate their own campaigns, like the peace march in white on the Gaza border, initiated by Yossi Loss and Nasreen Morcos.

Together we've led and won various campaigns over the years: from preventing deportation of undocumented children to fighting gender-based segregation at national sites and parks. But now we're putting everything aside and directing all the power we've built over the years toward stopping the insane spiral the Netanyahu government has led us into.

This is a critical moment. The Israeli government is considering the occupation of Gaza City, with its million residents (including Israeli hostages). The scale of killing and destruction in Gaza could exceed everything we've known in this war.

Stopping the war and opposing the destruction policy in Gaza is our life's mission. Join us: Every donation and every action by each of us advances the end of this war. Click here to chip in.
