How We Brought the “Segregation Patrols” to the Knesset

06/07/26

A bill that would separate women and men in higher education—including in libraries and cafeterias—is heading for a decisive vote in the Knesset. But first, the members of Knesset will have to get past us.

On Monday, July 6, we arrived at the Knesset on behalf of more than 60,000 activists who joined our campaign against gender segregation in higher education, to protest this extreme bill. We brought signs, handed out “Segregation Patrol” uniforms, and showed what the lives of students of professors could look like if the bill passes.

MK Adi Azouz joined us and even took signs with her to distribute inside the Knesset.

The protest also received considerable media coverage. You can read more about what we did in Hebrew, English, and Arabic.

We are already planning our next steps, for the event the bill passes. We would petition universities and colleges to refrain from implementing gender segregation, and take part in petitions to the High Court of Justice aimed at striking down the law.
