How We Made History at the UN General Assembly in New York

22/09/25

Just moments before stepping into the UN General Assembly in New York, we delivered our petition, signed by 10,000 Zazim community members, to President Emmanuel Macron, calling for the recognition of a Palestinian state.

May Pundak, who presented the petition on behalf of Zazim, shared that President Macron was deeply moved by the support of the Israeli peace camp, which strengthens his efforts to end the war and achieve a peace agreement. The President emphasized his partnership with us, with civil society in Israel and Palestine, and restated that he is a true friend of Israel, stating that ending the war and securing a peace agreement are in Israel’s best interest.

At the very moment of the historic debate in the UN General Assembly, trucks displaying our campaign message circled the UN headquarters, while international media widely covered our actions.

Thanks to every single one of the signatories, we offered a real alternative to Netanyahu’s endless war and raised a clear voice on behalf of the Israeli peace camp: No to war crimes, no to dreams of transfer and ethnic cleansing - yes to peace, justice, and a future of freedom and security for all.

We took this step because we believe that Israel’s allies have a crucial role to play in ending the war. Recognizing a Palestinian state is not about punishing Israel - it is a constructive move toward a peace agreement, the safe return of the hostages and soldiers, and a brighter future for both peoples.

Join us now in supporting Palestinian recognition. Together we will show the world that there is a strong Israeli voice against the endless war, and in support of peace for both people.
