Zazim Members say No to Netanyahu's Pardon

30/11/25

On November 30th, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu submitted a request to President Isaac Herzog, asking for a pardon from his ongoing corruption trial. In his letter, Netanyahu claims this would serve the "public interest" and help "heal rifts" in Israeli society.

Netanyahu admits no guilt, expresses no remorse, takes no responsibility for any of his actions, and makes no commitment to step down from political life.

Within 24 hours of this announcement, over 10,000 Israelis joined Zazim's campaign to formally object to this pardon request. Our message to President Herzog is clear: No pardon. No immunity from justice. No special treatment for the powerful.

We're just getting started—we will collect tens of thousands more objections and ensure their voices are heard.

A pardon for Netanyahu would deliver a devastating blow to Israeli democracy and the rule of law. But the implications go far beyond one politician evading justice.

For years, Netanyahu's government has systematically dismantled democratic guardrails and emboldened extremist forces. Granting him a pardon would legitimize all of it: the free hand given to Jewish vandals terrorizing Palestinian communities in the West Bank, the mainstreaming of Kahanist ideology into government positions, the delegitimization of Palestinian political parties, and the ongoing assault on the judiciary and free press.

Under Israeli law, the Pardons Department in the President's Office is required to consider formal objections when reviewing pardon requests. Through our petition, we're collecting formal objections from tens of thousands of Israelis. We're making it clear to President Herzog: Granting a pardon to a sitting prime minister in the middle of his trial—without admission of guilt, without remorse, without resignation—would legitimize Netanyahu’s assault on democracy. His duty is to throw out this request.

Our campaign will deliver a powerful message from the Israeli public to President Herzog's office. But we need your support to amplify this work, to reach more Israelis, and to continue fighting for the democratic principles that are under assault.
